I'm 20 and I don't mind and they don't mind. It's an asian tradition.

I stayed with my dad until he died. He wanted me to be safe and to take care of me and me of him. So it worked out fine. I was not ready to be independent and that was best for me to do in my situation. I know other people may have looked down on me but that is their problem. Just because I was not married or independent did not mean that I was stupid or crazy. They did not and do not know me to judge me. I did what I wanted and what was best for me. Then I realized that as my dad got older and in worse health, that he needed me because he would have been all alone and could not be alone as his illness progressed. One day he told me that he wanted me to stay and not to marry until he died. That did make me feel good and useful and have a little more dignity when others would say things to me. But all in all, I would not have changed a thing. So you do what is best for you. Your family is the most important thing, if they are good to you, so treasure them. You will be out and on your own one day when you marry or find a boyfriend or go to college or move for other reasons. So, do what is best for you. I think that you are lucky. :)

I'm 19, I'm still in college but i plan on moving out after I graduate so I can save now and get my own place later. It's normal for many ethic families the kids don;t move out until they are married, my brother is 27 and my sister is 23 and they both still live at home. They go to school as well, and apartments and basically living on your own is expensive.

I'm almost 20 and I still live with my parents. They do not mind. I want to get through college and establish myself more before I move out, so I wont flop and have to go back home. That way I can save money.

No, Im 21 and moved out when I was 20 and I love the independence! My parents didnt mind if I stayed but I wanted to grow up and live my own life and be independent. I love it! Try it, you might like it, if your parents dont mind you living there then they would probably take you back in if you decide you dont like living on your own.

Sadly, yes. I'm Asian too and I've graduated college. I came back to gain some experience and hopefully settle some things.

It some ways it's been good and some ways it's been bad. I think that when I move out again, it'll be for good.

I have wondered what has happened to American society that we now insist that everyone live alone. This is crazy and only happened over the last one or two generations. There used to be 3 generations living together, helping each other out, conserving resources, loving each other. What happened to that concept? Living alone was probably foisted on us by the furniture manufacturers so they could sell more couches and bean bag chairs! LOL
