I just had my 4th and final dental planing quad and now the bottom half of my mouth is numb. What to do when the numbness stops?

when the numbness stops and once you become aware of the pain / discomfort you will require some form of analgesia ie; a painkiller which is required till all the inflammation settles which may take even upto 5-7 days and it is better to prevent the pain rather than killing the pain after you have been made aware ie; start the pain killer before the numbness dissappears and take it at regular intervals as per its dosing ( paracetamol every 6 hours, anti inflammatories like diclofenac or brufen every 8 hours etc; ) and continue non stop regularly for atleast 5 days. Your dentist will suggest the best pain killer for you BUT you start taking this sooner and regular and do not allow the pain to come at you

Use ice. That should help numb your gums.
