It's not always the present it can be the thought that counts.

If you don't want to spend a load of cash, give someone a gift that represents something else. I once saw this couple and for valintines day he got her a key wrapped like a gift and it was the key to his apartment. This isn't like a big gift you look under the tree for at christmans, but a thoughtful gift that makes the other person know that you care about them.

see what that person likes a LOT and get a poster or stuffed animal of it. they are usually pretty cheap, poster (good one) is about 10-15$. Doll kinda depends on the size, small:1-5$, medium: 10-15$, big:15-30$

Go to your local grocery store...(Jewel if you have one) and buy either ONE of the following, or if you have $20, buy all 3.

1) a boquet of flowers ($5-$8)
2) a giant cookie that says happy birthday or something on it w/ their name (about $7)
3) A nice fragranced candle

great question. you got some really good answers too.

how about a leaf. just some old leaf you find lying around.

then you spin a story around it, like, this leaf represents our friendship, it's grown and now it's changed into this beautiful red/brown colored keepsake. ask them to press it in a book and keep it, when they see it in years to come, it will remind them of your friendship and how somethings are better than expensive gifts.

wow, what a story. send him the leaf and send me some chocolate.

peace out friend of cheapskate dude
