you need professional help with someone who knows how to deal with this, not all of us on here.

I used to cut. Not as severly as some and I think its different for those who do. I also have a close friend who used to cut...and we both suffer from depression. We're not over our depression but you have to realize any feelings of self hate, guilt, sadness, lonliness that you may take out physically upon yourself is only filling your mind more with the idea that its ok to do that. It doesn't take away that pain even though at the time you may think it does...and it doesn't help in the long run, you feel better. I would get a close support system..even a therapist that you feel comfortable with.. my doctor, when he issued me anti-depressants asked if there was anything I wanted to talk about because he could refer me to someone in that case...You're taking the first step by speaking up. I'd also search online for self help groups specifically for those who cut and deal with depression...get advice and comfort from others like you. I'm sure there is a website with a messageboard and other info, where you can read up about the illness and talk to others about it. Just remember you were made to be an amazing person, we all are, but half of us never realize it and never try to build a good life...and you only have 1 life. So don't give up, remember you wouldn't be given this pain and this problem if you couldn't handle it...so you can get through it and you'll learn from it which will only make you stronger. Keep reaching out, others will reach back.... and like I said, find a support group..even an internet group can help at first. But if this is severe, don't let fears hold you back from talking to a doctor or therapist. You can do it

This is very serious and you need to see a doctor, school counselor or someone who can assist. Its very hard to stop this yourself its possible that you may need therapy or medication of a combination of both. Remember people care about you and you need to care about yourself, you state you want to stop that's wonderful take the next help and let someone who can help you know.....good luck and best wishes.

I just now typed "help me stop cutting" into Google and got a lot of hits that looked helpful.

I've never been a cutter so I don't really have any personal advice. I do think it will help if you ask your parents to help you get into counseling.

Good luck.

I had to admit it to those closest to me that I had a problem. There are no denying the marks and scars when you show them. Then you need to see a counselor to help with what is causing you to cut. A rape I had barely remembered when I was 4 was my main trigger.

well i dont cut. but so ive hurd that when you cut it just releases your anger and it feels like its pouring out of you. but why would you want to put yourself in danger like that? is your life really that bad that you want to have ugly and gross scars on your wrists? there are so many other things you can do to get your anger out, why do you want to hurt your self for soemthing someone else did? punch your pillow, try to tear your pillow apart isk what you can do but there are so many other ways. hope this helps
