I think thats where many of you fail to realize why so many people that know what facts are (gravity, math equations, etc) get so frustrated when you vaguely say 'jesus said he is the way and the truth in the bible' and that is fact. No, that is NOT fact, that is merely faith that you want it to BE fact. There is a huge difference, and that my friends, is where the frustration, denial, kicking and screaming begin and end.

NO! That's not where the kicking and screaming begins and ends. "Faith" has never equaled "fact" and no christian worth his salt would ever argue that. Faith, however, is the foundation of all of reality. FACT: Jesus was a real person.. Evidence? The Romans were very meticulous record keepers. In Vatican archives and museum are the roman census records indicating the registration of Joseph and Mary from Nazareth, They had with them an infant born in Bethlehem, Jesus. These ARE facts.
FAITH isn't what is fact. What and Who Jesus was isn't important. What and Who Jesus represents, that's what's important. You can deny the parting of the red sea all day long... can you prove it didn't happen? Christians have faith that it did. I'm a Wiccan, not a Christian, but who are you to question anyone for their fath?!

Is that a fact? Actually, I think you need to make a difference between faith and blind faith. Faith cannot be just wishful thinking. On the other hand, if it is demonstrated fact, it is not just faith. I believe, for instance, that the existence of God is demonstrated fact. (Some would not agree with me, but some people wouldn't agree with me that the earth is round either!)
I believe it is historically documented fact that Jesus existed, and I believe there is enough documentation that He actually rose from the dead. On the other hand, I have faith that what Jesus said about invisible things, and about eternity, and about the future, is all true. I can't demonstrate that in any way. I consider those things to be "factual" because I have as much confidence in them as I have that if I turn on the light switch the light will turn on. However I cannot present those aspects as being demonstrated fact. Neither could I even try to demonstrate them.
What I believe is demonstrable, you might not agree with. We'll both agree that some things are not demonstrable, only my faith in some of those things make them as firm in my mind as what is demonstrable.
(Well, I understand what I'm saying here - hope you do too! lol)
P. S. "demonstrable" = what can be demonstrated - should be in the dictionary if it isn't! :)

that Jesus is recorded as saying
I am the way the truth and the life and no one come to the Father but through me
is indeed a fact
Wheather you belive what Jesus siad as the truth is a matter of faith That faith exists is a fact The truth of this faith is proven in the life of that faith as lived by the person who belives what Christ said this is also a fact There is nothing vaugely held
as true by people who have true faith nor is there no serous questiong of that faith in the light of scientific reasoning
Faith needs reason a blind faith is not faith neither for that matter is a reason which is blind to the endless possibilites of it its own incomprehension of its being
The truth of the fact of peoples faith in Christ does not nor should not obscure the reality of the world from the reason of Christians
Chirst was God become man inhabited a physical space felt joy and pain and suffered crucifixtion
Nor should the the truth of the fact of those who belive in reason alone obscure the reality of the world of faith in those who believe in Christ
I would also like to mention here the Jewish Islamic Taoist Hindu
Buddhist traditions of faith which are also facts
facts beyond a reasonable doubt that they exist
and that they have from their various traditions contributed more to the developement of reasoned thinking in this world than is ever given credit for on the grand public stage at least
One has only to say I am a Catholic or Jew etc to have the whole proposition of the baby of their sometimes very reasoned and scientifically based argument thrown out with the bath water
and that is not only a frustration but a denial often on both sides which has no beginning and will have no end not in the forseeable future at least

Faith is not a fact. It never was and until the religious right revival never was supposed to be..that was the whole point in HAVING FAITH because if it was a fact you would not need faith..you would KNOW.

Faith in Bible..fine, great and wonderful..does that make it 100% factual...no, in no way, never.

In the bible is there a lot of historical information that seems to be true? Yes..does that mean weird magic things are true too? No.

diamond_d...:: Your evolution statement..wrong..sorry but it is..apples and oranges is what you just pulled off. Might as well say "relativity is a theory just like flying spagetti so same thing". Nope..one goes off real objective evidence and one is a total idea with no objective evidence.

jon b:: Nope BS on your darwin claim..he never recanted and that is per documented testimoney from HIS DAUGHTER instead of a "mythical interview" with a christian who was never at Darwin's house while he was dying. Also from what you say based on what Jesus taught you are going to hell....enjoy

Hebrew 11:1 Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.

Faith is also a gift of God.

We will not get to heaven because of our head knowledge. Our head knowledge is an obstacle.

I cannot by my own reason or strength believe in Jesus Christ.
It is a gift from God.

We are called to proclaim the Word of God in His Law and Gospel.
The Holy Spirit will work faith in the hearts of the hearers

Just because you can't measure faith doesn't mean that it isn't fact. If enough people believe in something it becomes fact. Example evolutionary theory. It's still a theory but teachers are teaching it as truth. Even darwin withdrew his claim of evolution. If you believe Jesus is Messiah then what he says is true for he cannot lie. If you don't then suffer in hell. The end

Faith is belief in something you have not seen.
When you board an airplane, you may not see the pilot but you have faith that he is well trained to pilot you safely to your destination; it's not blind faith....there is a reason for your belief...all pilots are properly trained to do their job.
Just having faith in someone without reason is nonsense. Some people believe in the Bible because they have a reason to; others don't believe because they have had no positive experiences with the Bibical word; the same can be said of the Quran.
I have seen Christians become so engrossed with the biblical word that they behave odd...some even speak in tongues; I have seen Muslims become so engrossed in the Quran that they would behead anyone who dares oppose it; I haven't been blessed with those extreme graces; maybe different people have different positive spiritual experiences...who am I to judge them?
To each his own.

The biblical definition of faith.

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Hebrews 11:1, KJV

Prophecy

"...holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." 2 Peter 1:21 KJV

Faith is substance.

It is a condition of the human heart that is as real to God as the thing we asked for will be to us when we receive it.

Faith is evidence.

"And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him." 1 John 5:14-15, KJV

Faith is not based on human feeling but rather it is based squarely on the fact of what God says. The evidence is not found in the feeling, rational, visible or sense realm.

What faith is not.

Faith is not mere human hope. Faith is based on the Word of God alone. Human hope may be based on the sands of wishful thinking or human desire, rather than on the rock of the Word of God.

Attributes of Faith.

"Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours." Mark 11:24 KJV

"For no matter how many promises God has made, they are `Yes' in Christ. ... "2 Corinthians 1:20 KJV

I am answering your question. Is that a fact? I have faith that you are a person submitting this question and not a chat bot. Is that a fact? I have faith that what you say is what you want me to know about your views and how you want me to respond to your will that us Christians understand you.
Well, we respond to the Bible the same way. It is GOD's Yahoo R&S Question/statement to us. That sir is a fact. No kicking or screaming. Just understanding and need.
May GOD richly bless you.

Actually, Jesus said the way, the truth and the life.

Fact, when it comes to religion, is grounded in faith. Really, not hard.

Evolution is not fact, it is theory, but some accept it as fact. Its no diffrent with religion.
