When you stretch,(and I mean stretch..like doing the splits and bridge and stuff) does it effect the way your muscle looks? Say that you wanted really defined abs, but you stretched your abdominals every day..would this prevent you from developing them? (also, can you stretch your skin out?) Strange questions, I know, but I'm really flexable, and I don't want to be doing stuff that'll I'll later regret! Thanks!

im not an expert but im a gymnast so i have some backround. it doesnt effect the way your muscles look but it makes them like the people before me have said more elastic like. it cant prevent you from gettin abs its actually better for them because when you do crunches then stretch your abs wont hurt as bad next time. also it cant stretch your skin because your skin is already quite flexible even though you can't notice. the only way you would ever possilbe stretch your skin out would be to stay in a back bend for 3 months straight. the day someone does that i will be amazed =]

Stretching is one of the best things you can do for your body.
It helps the blood to flow more smoothly, it helps your musles to be like elastic......it helps to prevent injuries. If you are looking to bulk up that can happen with your weight training (see a trainer for more info).......if not....I dont think you have anything to worry about.
I take Bikram yoga.
