Just watched an advert for the new Citreon. First picture "only £5,485"but underneath way at the bottom "model shown £8,655"
Another picture, £7,500 "model shown £9,800)
Another picture, £,8,700 "model shown £14,250)

Why not show the actual car with the actual price!!

disclaimer: my prices are made up so you get the gist! but Citreon's are not!

You have a good point, but it's even worse than that.

The adverts rarely tell you anything about the car not even the right price!

It seems that they are simply competing for advertising video awards and don't give a monkey's for the prospective customers.

Or, this kind of advertising works - why else are the middle classes queueing up for ugly, environmentally unsound off-road junk that never goes off-road?

My experience in these adverts is exactly what has already been said. The adverts get us in, and the charming sales person's primary role is to sucker us all the way.
It helps if a person knows exactly what they want and can afford, and refuses to buy unless they get it their way.
Car people hate this, but you are always free to walk away at any time. You need not buy what they want to push down your throat or up some other place. You have to pay for and drive the thing!!!
Also, the dishonesty part--well it is part of the game all the way round.

Because the initial duty of the advertiser is to con you. They use an A1 photo, but quote a Z1 price to con you, but they have to tell the truth in the very small print 'cos it's the law.

Tell me about it! I bought a Citroen C4 thinking it was Optimus Prime. When I discovered that it wasn't in fact a Transformer I took it straight back!
