my sister sees dead people and is now in pychotic state of mind?

she could never sleep alone at night now and as a child. she is 37 years of age and has 3 children that she can not care for at this time due to her phychosis. she begged me to take her to a priest or contact a medium for her i tried to take her to a priest but there was nothing they could do for her. they insisted she seek medical help. she used to tell me things and when i think back what she said have happened. she is now living by herself and i am constantly worries for her she is afraid of everything. she is paranoid and talks with herself or the people she is seeing. i really need to know if the is mentally ill or maybe she can see the dead and her mind has broken down with fear.

I think that by definition, if someone hears voices that other people aren't hearing ...or talks to people that only they can see - this is psychosis/schizophrenia. The cause may be different things - may be medical, may be psychiatric. Either way, professional medical help is the way to go here. She most definitely needs to either get into the hospital or see a psychiatrist quickly. Medications can help people with schizophrenia live better lives where they don't hear voices anymore, or at least not as much, or they learn how to deal with it and live in less fear. But medications are a must, and therefore ...she really has to be seen by a doc.

If you haven't taken her to seek professional help you need to do so now. Maybe the doctors can diagnose her with a certain illness and put her on some medications that will help her. Maybe she is telling the truth and can see dead people. Anything's possible. Good luck to you and your sister.
