Something is causing inflammation somewhere in his body. The next step is to find out what in order to treat it with the right antibiotics or other treatment.

The medical term for this is "leukocytosis". It means that his white blood cells are above the normal limit. This cells belong to the immune system (against infections/diseases). It can be caused by infections, leukemias, drugs/medication, vigorous exercise, etc... The best way is to go to the doctor. Hope everything goes well!

Probably a high white cell count, which would either indicate an autoimmune disease, or more likely a recent infection of some kind.
