Any wedding can be big and have a dress.
But only a Catholic wedding can have a Catholic priest.
So technically, you are right.
With love in Christ.

There are many protestant churches where you could have your wedding, not only catholic churches.... And any protestant pastor would perform a beautiful wedding ceremony.
If you want to get married by a priest in a catholic church, at least one, either the bride or the groom would have to be catholic. And the ceremony would be in that persons parish church.
...Actually, most churches will first ask if you belong to their faith, and some will not marry you if you don't, but others will...You'll probably have to ask in several churches before you find one that is acceptable all the way around.
As to the ceremony, once you have chosen the church, and the pastor accepts to celebrate your wedding, he will help you choose the liturgy, and the phrases you wish to use in the ceremony
My husband and I chose everything that was said in our wedding ceremony, from the religious readings, to our own vows...

You can have a priest and have a big Catholic wedding in the Catholic church, But you can also have a big wedding in other churches when you are of other faiths and get married by the minister or whoever is the leader of that church! Now if you want to get married in the Catholic church, you have to be Catholic!

You are wrong. You can wear a dress to get married in anywhere. Thousands of brides get married in a church who are not Catholic, wear a dress, and have large guest counts. I've even known several Catholics who had tiny weddings.
In order to have a church wedding, you do need to be some religion though, even though alot of people aren't who do that. But a priest is a Catholic thing. They aren't Protestant or non-religious. In Protestant religions they are called pastors, reverends, ministers, etc but they do pretty much the same things that a priest would.

You can have as big a wedding as you want and are willing to pay for. I'm not sure that you can get a justice of the peace to come to your wedding venue and officiate at the wedding, however; so it helps to have some sort of clergy present.
If you are married by an Episcopal, Roman Catholic, or (I think) Eastern Orthodox officiant, then the wedding will be performed by a priest and will be wearing some sort of clerical robe. I believe most other Christian sects call their clergy ministers, and I believe ministers ordinarily don't wear robes but do wear standard clerical formal wear (i.e., a black suit with some sort of white collar).
Editiing now (having read the response above mine): at least one of you has to be Catholic in order for you to be married in the Catholic Church. You also agree to raise your children (if any) as Catholics.

To a big church wedding no you dont have to be, lots of people who arent catholic have huge church weddings. . To have a priest marry you, yes you should be catholic, as the church will not marry you if you aren't.

You do not have to be catholic to have a big church wedding. You can have a church wedding in any church like baptist or methodist with the big white dress, flowers, candles and so on.

No, you do not have to be catholic to have a big church wedding. You would use a minister, not a priest. Your brother is right.

I don't know specifically about a Catholic church. I think you do have to be a member of the Catholic church to get married in that specific one, but don't quote me on it, I'm not entirely sure. Other churches of other Christian religions, though, I haven't a guess.

yes - anyone can have a big wedding, but not necessarily with a preist. Each religion has a different set of rules - and you would be married by a priest, rabbi, pastor, etc.
I had a non-religous ceremony, with a JP, but we had the whole nine yards, big dress, tons of guests, etc.
