It depends on what type of car you are selling. If it is a 2004 year model porsche 911 or a 2005 year model bmw X5 then yes it does. If it is a 1994 year model vw polo 1.3litre then no it does not.

I wish I'd known to ask about the service history when I bought my first car a few months back. I have no idea when the cam belt was done - which I have since been told is really important. It's not essential if you are selling a car but if you're buying one, I would recommend trying to get as much history as you can.

As others have indicated, a service history helps buyers know how well the car was serviced, and if on schedule or not.
A well maintained car is generally worth more to buyers such as myself than one with an unknown history.

If I was purchasing your car...it would deffinately be a bonus in your behalf. I'd be more willing to pay the asking price of the car if you maintained an accurate service record on the vehicle. It would also make it worth more to a dealer as when selling the car after trade in they could show this to a prospective buyer. To me it makes a big difference rather than just taking your word for it.

If you have a full service history it should enhance the value, when a cambelt change on an ordinary repmobile can cost £400 the lack of proof that it has been changed and is not life expired can easily reduce the value of the vehicle by at least £ 400 possibly far more.

No it isn't but it sure helps. A Service History says that the owner has cared for the car, I wouldn't buy a car without one.

Absolutely! Many buyers want to see your maintenance schedule and service records. I wouldn't buy a used vehicle without them! That's why so many people cry "lemon law" when in fact they had no idea of what they were purchasing. It also generates better selling prices and trade-in values when you have accurate service records!

Depends on the car, but it can be helpful. In particular if you have a used car that can be "factory certified" by the dealer. In order to do that, they need the history.

If you have ton of miles on the car, it won't matter.
