I met this guy 3 weeks ago at my cousins wedding. He's 29 and I'm 22. He's In D.C and I'm in Chicago. We really hit it off and have found a lot in common. I dont think the age is an issue, as we are both on the same maturity level, but my friends make a big deal of it. Also, I always believed long distance relationships only work when you've been with each other for at least one good year! Is it still possible to start and maintain a long distance relationship ??

Hi there! I had a long distance relationship for 7 months, then I moved to my boyfriend's area after we were engaged. Yes, you can have a long distance relationship (we saw each other in person every 2-3 weeks). However, eventually other commitments will need to be made. You've just met him, so this first part is the fun part, just enjoy it for what it is. Later, you will decide if you or him are willing to put more into the relationship. Good luck (I've been married to that man now for over 8 years!)

I don't know. I just started a long distance relationship with a guy who is 2 hours away and it already is seeming a little crazy. I think it would require a lot of effort from both of you and it may be more than you are willing to put into a relationship that you aren't sure about.

Yes, starting a long distance relationship can work. You have to be willing to make it work though and both of you have to commit to it. You have to know what comes with the long distance relationship. Things can be hard at times but I think in the long run it is for the best. I have heard they are better because you are not always with them and you don't get tired of seeing them and you get excited when you do see them.

I was going out with my bf for only a few months before he left for college, maintaining one is hard
really hard im not going to lie but if you both want it to work, it will, just keep the communication open and keep talking, things will work out if thats what is meant to be.

I personally dont' believe it can work. I have tried it several times...form 2 horus away to 1800 miles away. It never works. The phone bills pile up, the airfare bills pile up, and all the time you aren't with each other, you are lonely. Inevitablly someone else in your town finds you attractive, and whamo....it's over as fast as it started. Do yourself a favor...save your money and your time.
