because your brain thinks the other person is stealing all the air so makes you yawn to try and get some yourself, therefore staying alive.

There's also that it's merely the power of suggestion.

I too would love to know the answer.
If I announce to everyone that "I am incredibly tired", or "I'm going to snuggle up in a nice warm bed", I doubt that form of communication will cause you to yawn. But I would guess that if you saw/heard me yawn the odds are you would yawn too.

it is said u yawn because of less oxygen arround, but i feel its the brain tat makes u do tat, when ur fresh and just started your day and u see someone yawning, you wont yawn . but if you have worked all day and you see someone yaening then u yawn too, as you too are tired and need to rest for a while, and because you are tired you are breathing slow and relaxing and when the oxygen in ur body is insufficient you yawn. its just a way i think not proved anyways.....
