I was sick all day and then I remembered that my mum always gave me Coca Cola and Brezels to stop me throwing up. How does it work?
Btw. I feel better now :)

I have recommended slightly fizzy drinks before for people suffering with Diahorrea and / or Sickness. But not very fizzy as it will just gas up in your stomach and wont really help the situation much. Coke is not the usual recommendation though, its usually Lemonade or Lucozade. The idea is that it replaces fluid and electrolytes lost when your sick and not eating/drinking normally. The sugar in fizzy drinks also helps by providing your body with energy, so ironically stops you feeling more nauseous than you already do. I dont really recommend coca cola, mainly due to the high amounts of caffine. It wont help the situation anymore than if you were drinking lemonade. Also only take it in sips, dont gulp as you will only get too much gas. Resting your stomach as much as possible when you are sick is the best treatment - small amounts of water, and slightly fizzy drinks will be plenty. Too much fluid and / or any attempts of food before your stomach is ready will prolong your sickness / diahorrea. Hope this helps and glad your better now !!

The Doctor told my mom to give me coca cola to settle my stomach when I get nauseated . I remember once when I got sick I couldn't keep anything on my stomach , not even water and coca cola was the only thing that would stay. I don't know what is in it that keeps one from throwing up but it does work. The coca cola coats your stomach.

Also sprite is good for an upset stomach that is if you don't have any coca cola. And also a little sprite can be added to dog's drinking water to settle their stomach.

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.

The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.

Get started today!

I'm surprised it helped. Coca Cola is phosphoric acid. Very dangerous for the stomach lining. The carbonation is probably what helps. Ginger ale might be a better choice. Ginger is a natural digestive aid.

no ,cola does not calm the stomach. if it is gas that is causing your upset stomach drink ginger ale or 7 up.they both have alot of carbonation which will bring up the gas and make you burp alot. for the throwing up.if it is constant.try and see if you can buy bonine(*wal mart) non drowsy.it is for sea seekness but will stop the nausia after about 20 minutes if you can get the pill down.also pecid ac and pepto bismal help get rid of the discomfort( wal mart) if you stop throwing up after taking the bonine then eat oatmeal .the oatmeal will coat your stomach, fill it,and give you energy.trust me ive been through some serious stomach aches with vomitting

I was told that it was the balance of salt and sugars that are available in coke, which are the ones that you loose during sickness. Can't stand coke or any other fizzy drink, so I don't know personally, but as a child my mum used to make me drink it and it always made me feel better!

Either coke or for some odd reason, warm lemonade, and I mean british lemonade so similar to Sprite, not traditional still lemonade. Warm it in the microwave for a few seconds and drink it warm. It's still fizzy and it quite odd to drink but it works.
