If you were convicted of a VIOLENT crime, then No. But if you are on parole for a NON Violent crime, then maybe. You just need to go to a recruiter and ask.

It depends on the hiring policies of the company that owns the ship.

There is no service known as the 'merchant marines.' This is just a term that refers to sailors on commercial ships.

There is no specific law that prohibit's the felonist from becoming a sailor. But I am not sure your parole guidelines would asllow you to be all over the map like that.
