Deportation is the job of INS. The police should report all illegal aliens in jail to the INS so the INS can deport them.

If this person who is in Jail is actually found guilty of commiting a crime in the US and are not legal, they should do their time in jail and immediately be deported after finishing their sentence. If this person is legally here, then they should do their time and depending on the crime should be deported after they also finish their sentence.

OMG, YES ...... Let the keepers of the peace, be able to enforce the law. If they can verify that they have a illegal in custody, they can have him turned over to INS.

Anyone who is not a US citizen, YES. It is bad enough that people are already breaking our immigration laws, they should definatly be deported if they are convicted of breaking other laws also.

this is a tough question.. the thing is if we deport them they will just come back and commit the same crimes. but if we keep them in the US prisons we will have to continue to pay for them. its a lose/lose situation... thanks for posting. :]
