Unconsious habits like that are hard to break - but think of how unhealthy it is to do that. It's not just bad for your face, it spreads the bacteria to everything you touch - including your keyboard and your mouse RIGHT NOW - and makes your condition worse. You have to talk to yourself, kind of parent yourself out of it. Meanwhile, start a care regimine that helps you treat your skin more respectfully.

What makes you HAVE to do this is a belief that you're fixing the problem. Primative urge to preen. Doesn't work. Understand this and you've solved your problem. You may also have an unconcious need to "pick" at problems. Examine and redirect this need to a healthier place.

I've had that problem and it's hard to overcome. Unless you're at the level of obsessive compulsive for which you would need real help, you're probably acting out of frustration. the face is really sensitive and picking at it probably consciously or subconsciously relieves a little of the irritation that blemishes cause. Here's how I curb the urge: Remember this; Everything you put into your body comes out your pores first of all, so improved diet improves your skin. But also remember that those pores are on your hands, and all the oils and toxins that your body pushes out are on your hands. So is everything you've touched that day. And since washing won't stop the oils coming out of your skin, when you touch your face you aren't helping it, you're causing more damage. Try to remind yourself of that every time you touch your face, and when you have to, just try to wash it, (don't overwash as that harshes the skin), and let it heal. Good luck!

I have the exact same problem! In fact I just happen to have a nice mini plaster on the face because of an "episode of meddling" just 15 minutes ago!!!! I don'r have acne and my skin is usuallt clear but once every blue moon I get this annoying pimple that is light pink. You know what helps? I pick at it after covering my finger with an alcohol swab or a piece of tissue because our hands are never clean enough for our faces. This at least limits the dirt off of your face. But seriously don't so it!!! No one has noticed my smaaaaalllll pimple but me.. whereas everybody just saw the mini plaster on my face and wondered what it's doing there!

Put on medication on your face like salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. Spread it over your face in a way that it is not rubbed in. Maybe you won't feel like touching your blemishes then.

If this doesn't work, then tie up your hands.

its because when you break out your more selfconcious and your hoping (as your scratching them) that they arent too bad and no one can see them.... i do that too. try sitting on your hands when you want to pick at it. hope this helps a litle bit

oh and you can also wear a rubberband around your wrist and every time you pick at your face snap the rubberband... one of my friends did that once... im not sure if it worked though... oh well ;-)

Use a great facewash to help get rid of those pesky blemishes! And rememeber that for every blemish you pick, you get two more... and they could be on your face, your back, or your arms.
