Yes, it's a burgundy but wouldn't go for this myself as it's a Merlot wine if I remember rightly.
For about the same price (guessing that a 2000 cost you about £15 - £18) I would go for a Cabernet sauvignon-heavy wine like:
French - Château Pontet-Chappaz
Australian - Wolf Blass Presidents Selection Cabernet Sauvignon
S. African -Vergelegen Cabernet Sauvignon
Chile -Concha y Toro Winemaker's Lot 159 Cabernet Sauvignon

You would probably prefer an Australian or USA (Napa Valley?) Cabernet sauvignon as they are less complex and more easy drinking than the French. But the Chilean, though the cheapest, is also very good.

Enjoy your wine!

Apparently the wine is claret from a region in Bordeaux, it's always dry, it probably doesn't suit your palate. Try Torres Vina Esmeralda it's a medium dry fruity wine, happy drinking.
