In my opinion, out of those two options go with kickboxing. Boxing is obviously great to develop a solid punch (as long as you practice without handwraps and bigass gloves sometimes so that you get good wrist strength) as well as developing footwork and defense.
Kickboxing will also let you develop the punching (albeit to a slightly lesser degree) as well as kicking and blocking across the whole body (It's not always about striking to the head & neck, I've seen guys drop from a solid kick to the side of the thigh).
My advise is that if you want to be a well rounded martial artist you'll also need to look beyond either of those to cover their biggest weakness, floor fighting.
For example, if I know you're a superior boxer or have a distinct reach advantage I'll take you to the floor asap where those advantages are lost. Similarly if you're a heavier guy (possibly less agile) then I'll keep you at striking range.
This also raises the question, what do you want to get out of Martial Arts? If it's practical skills so that you can defend yourself, then what you study will probably be vastly different than if your priority is fitness, competition fighting or as a balancing force for the rest of your life. Consider spending a few years sampling different forms until you find one that suits you.

It depends on how you want to kick A**. If you want to learn how to use quick strikes to take out an opponent, then boxing may be for you. If you plan to do forms of pit fighting, then Kick boxing may be better, because it requires a lot more stamina, so you can go the distance in the fight. Plus kick boxing gets you into excellent shape, so you won't be looking like Butterbean in the ring. I hope this helps.

It all depend on you.Boxing need more speed in you arm. The frequency of your hand should be very high and you foot work and your body movement should be quick.
In Kickboxing you need to be very good with you legs and the speed of your legs . you also need your arm too.you can used you legs to support your hand if your opponent is good with the hand you distance him and counter him with your legs that is the advantage to boxing.
