According to ancient video footage from way back in 1980 when I had my first Christmas (I was nearly 1), my mom got me a jack-in-the-box. Apparently I loved it! I am pretty sure they still make things like that, even in this high-tech world. In fact, whenever I go see my little cousins I always make sure to bring them a toy I remember playing with when I was a kid, and you know what? 9 tiimes out of 10 they love my gift better than the fancy electronic games and stuff the other people bring them. Small kids like things they can play with right away that require no setup. So, good for you getting her that V-Smile thingy, but also get her a fun pull-toy and maybe a little soft doll or something too.

How about a personalized book? Your child gets to be the star of the storybook with characters like Elmo, Sesame Street, Ballerina Princess, Teddy Bears - - they're really cute.... my kids love them! Go to this website http://www.tlc-expressions.com to see all the titles that are available.

Honestly, after 4 babies, I can tell you to get her whatever makes you happy because she will only want to play with the boxes and wrapping paper! Baby videos are nice, and maybe a little ride on type toy.

I have the same problem with trying to decide for my young kids . You know I cant really give ideas cause all kids are different . I go to Fisherprice.com and get ideas, You can look up her age for girls and they give you a list of toys .

books! Especially once with flaps. My son has loved them since he was less than a year. He'll be 3 in 2 weeks, he still loves them!

A stacking toy is good if she doesn't already have one. The kind with the rings and the peg.

Get her one of those dolls with the zippers buttons and snaps on it. What ever you get her wrap it in extra tissue paper. That's the best part for them.
