PARATROOPERS, 82nd ALL THE WAY BABY!!!!!!!!

In all seriousness, I served with the 82nd, but would gladly bleed with any of my military brothers and sisters in any uniform.

Neither is better or worse then the other. The Marines, paratroops, tanks, infantry, special operation types, artillery, intel, supply, admin, explosive ordnance disposal, military police, and only God knows how many other types of jobs the military has, none are better or worse than the others. Every job in the military is just as essential to killing the enemy and protecting each other as the other. As I am an active duty Marine, I am predisposed to say that the Marines are better, but the Air Force, Marines, Army, Navy, and the Coast Guard all have different and specialized missions that they are trained to accomplish.

My husband is a SSGT in the USMC. 13 years of service in Supply. I think he's pretty cool! But as far as your question goes, you can be any of those things in any branch. You can not be a Marine in the Army, but you can be a paratrooper, tank, or infantry in ANY branch of service.

"The Army is weak; Now the Marines, those are the men you want to ****." -Lois Griffin (Family Guy).

"The deadliest weapon in the world is a Marine and his rifle." -General John "Blackjack" Pershing, U.S. Army.

"You cannot exaggerate about the Marines. They are convinced to the point of arrogance, that they are the most ferocious fighters on earth; and the amusing thing about it is that they are." -Father Kevin Keaney, Chaplain, Korean War.

"The Marine Corps has just been called by the New York Times, 'The elite of this country.' I think it is the elite of the world." -Admiral William Halsey, U.S. Navy.

"I have just returned from visiting the Marines at the front, and there is not a finer fighting organization in the world!" -General Douglas MacArthur, US Army, Korea, 21 September 1950.

"The Americans on this island are not ordinary troops, but Marines; a special force recruited from jails and insane asylums for blood lust." -Japanese Report, Guadalcanal, 1942.

"The USMC is over 231 years of romping, stomping, death and destruction; the finest fighting machine the world has ever seen. We were born in a bomb crater, our mother was an M-16, and our father was the devil. Each moment that I live is an additional threat upon your life. I am a rough looking soldier of the sea. I am cocky, self-centered, overbearing, and I do not know the meaning of fear, for I am fear itself. I am a green, amphibious monster made of blood and guts who arose from the sea, festering on anti-Americans throughout the globe. Wherever it may arise, and when my time comes, I will die a glorious death on the battlefield, giving my life to Mom, the Corps, and the American flag. We stole the eagle from the Air Force, the anchor from the Navy, and the rope from the Army. On the 7th day, while God rested, we overran his perimeter and stole the globe, and we've been running the show ever since. We live like soldiers, talk like sailors, and slap the hell out of both of them. Soldier by day, lover by night, drunkard by choice, Marine by God!" OORAH!!!

Well in the Marines you can still jump out of a plane, ride a tank, and be in the infantry. It all depends what job (MOS) you want to do and how much dicipline you want to acheive. But no mater the branches, and they do have their own levels of pride, dedication and confidence in their branch, but we all fight together.

BETTER..... There are no better then the others in the military. All serve in a specific catagory or job for which they are trained to do. There has always been a rivalry between the branches of service but I have never heard any of them bragging that one was better then the other...especially in a war zone. We all serve a purpose and do our jobs.

Marine Corps. They are the "Shock Troops". They make it "safe" enough for the other branches to operate

I think they're all good. It shouldn't matter your rank, your branch, or how long you've served. They all do their job and that's defend America. So, I would say all of 'em.
