As someone who is studying to be a teacher ill try and answer this question as best as I can.
First of all, theres a lot of violence that surrounds young kids these days. Additionally, these kids may have older siblings that they see engaging in this type of behavior, and they take this as an example and think that it is okay to do, when its really not. Additionally, these three boys may have been pressuring each other into doing this act, as a way of being "cool." Its hard to believe that kids this age are concerned with being cool, but its a definite reality.
In my experience, kids are usually a product of their environment...their parents, their neighborhood, their surroundings and all of the things they are exposed to.

There parents probabily teach them if you dont like what somebody esle is doing hit them or they watch a lot of tv!
