“We can never obtain peace in the world if we neglect the inner world and don't make peace with ourselves. World peace must develop out of inner peace”
- The Dalai Lama -

I believe that before we try to change the world for the better we must first improve ourselves. If we try to change the world while we have negative intentions then that will stop us from connecting to other people. Do you agree? If not then how do you believe that we can?

I agree. Since we are part of the world, by improving ourselves to be Kinder and more Peaceful etc, we are already changing the world, step by step, trickle by trickle.

This method is like taking Vitamins to improve ones health, slower but less invasive way than surgery.

We live in such a mad world with misplaced values, superstitions and intolerance, we can't escape being tainted by it all. If we don't change the way we are programmed by society to think, we will never become the people we are meant to be, and never achieve our potential. Malcontented people harbor hatred, intolerance, paranoia and hostility. I agree with the Dalai Lama, but I don't believe enlightened individuals *can* change the world; there are too few of them to make a difference. I would love to believe we will evolve spiritually to new understanding but the longer I live the more I believe we never shall.

I agree, many people try to go out and change the world before they allow themselves to change. However I recognize that we, as humans, can never attain total righteousness on earth, that's why we naturally have to minister or propagate our faith even though we aren't perfect. This is why many religious people are called hypocrites - because they are telling the world to seek righteousness while they themselves still commit errors. Yet if we had to be spotless before we can preach any good word, there would be no preaching. Yet I do agree, we all should change our own life before trying to change other people's lives. That way, at least, we are pursuing righteousness.

replace can come from many places. If would nicely be enforced wholesale, or it would nicely be inspired one individual at a time. Sweeping replace is problematic to finish in a individual factor because maximum persons of human beings are loose, and characteristic their personal reviews. the way maximum replace frequently occurs is even as human beings are "enticed" to modify through a unmarried individual, and as further and extra human beings follow (and reply certainly), replace takes carry on a higher and bigger scale. now and again the single individual in question is attentive to they attempt to encourage replace, and orchestrates it, and different cases it occurs completely through coincidence.

I think what your saying is true.

I also think that it's necessary so that you have the right understanding of the world and your relationship to it. Of course, relating to your emotional responses that come from the world is important. I know that sometimes, I'm to hard on myself, and I put unnecessary pressure on myself. I think that it even spills over into how I think others perceive me. I learned this recently, with hind site.

You can't be staggering drunk and preach to people about drunkness. So yes you have to work on you before you can truly help someone else. First you have to believe in God and his word to get your foundation built before building a new house or self.Just like you believe in your religion, you have to know the foundation of your religion before building a house or self.

Nice question:

I believe you are right. This is something that ought to be taught, but it is not. So we have a lot of out of control, mis informed people, trying to change the world.

Economically and scientifically, we have seen progress. Culturally, I think civilization is rapidly deteriorating.

I believe that there will not be world peace until the Lord comes back and put things in order. However, if you judge ourselves it would be one less to judge.
