I attend a non-demoniacal church with about 2,000 in attendance. The problem is that the church has had a very difficult time getting a men’s ministry started. I just want to know what is that men want from a men’s ministry and what are the key components that would make it successful?

Thanks,

FELLOWSHIP and a chance to get out of the house and yuck it up with the guys a bit.

I'm serious. Most of these "ministries" center around Bible studies.
Most of these studies are things we've all heard before ad nauseum.

If you attempt to get a bunch of guys together to pray and study from a weekly studyguide it will likely fall flat.

Most men are aching to get out of the house.

You've got promote relationships. How do guys bond? Through trial, competition etc. Get them out on campouts, golf, rock climbing shooting and allow them to build relationships. Better yet, before doing so, form accountability groups of 3-5 men that trade phone numbers and share rides. When you have the bonds built, you will then be able to minister to them AND - they will minister to each other (most important).

Try it.

-- Here's another idea: Interleave your fellowship outings with work ministries - soup kitchen, building, home repair ministries etc. That's another way men bond - through work. When they've developed a bond, they'll be much more open to preaching and teaching, counseling and accountability support.

We got ours started by having an overnight retreat. We brought in speakers on various topics that were of interest to men. When we got back from the retreat we continued to meet on Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

men need male spirituality to find their faith, but the churches today are going with female spirituality and men feel out of place.
