Hi there-- I'm trying to duplicate a recipe my husband remembers from his childhood in Quebec, which is a simple recipe involving rice, milk, raisins, sugar, and an egg. He is able to make it but I am trying to make it as a birthday surprise! I have tried to find one online but they are all fairly complicated and have about 10-12 ingredients. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Thanks in advance!

Cheeseball Lady...Um, thanks for that. Those are the only ingredients he uses, so there IS such a recipe. Anyway, I realize that most have more ingredients because I've checked several recipe sites already, that's why I'm on here asking if anyone knows this one or one close to it.

Awww-- Akickinthebox & cookie-- I would like to give you both 10 pts for best/most helpful/thoughtful answer, but since I can't, the only way I can see to be fair is to give it to the first one who posted.-- Cookie, I really really appreciate your efforts, too, and I hope to see you elsewhere on the boards and choose your answer as the best-- Thanks again, both of you!!

Woodster! I should have known you'd turn up again-- *big smile* -- It would be unfair to pick yours as best answer now, but you know I'm chuckling because I'm tempted!

Okay -- Canadian to the rescue. I'm not francophone, but I think I know what you're talking about. This is a really simple rice pudding recipe that I usually make the day after we've had a stir fry (you have to use pre-cooked rice, so works well with leftovers).

In a mixing bowl combine:
3 eggs, slightly beaten
1 3/4 c milk
1 1/2 c cooked rice
1/2 sugar
1/2 c raisins
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp cinnamon

Preheat oven to 340 degrees celcius and pour ingredients into a greased, round baking pan (I use my round corelle caserole dish). Cook until pudding has slightly set and top is brown and bubbly, about 35 - 45 minutes. Serve warm or cold with light cream, if desired.

Enjoy! Bon apetit!

Most processed foods are loaded with salt. Lunchmeat is loaded with the stuff. But check the labels and see.
