My first one (upper right thigh) didnt hurt, it actually tickled. I got a second one a few inches above my left ankle and I dozed off during it.
Both times I was told that the less "fleshy" an area is the more it will hurt. A friend of mine got an arm band and she said the part that hurt the most was the underside of her arm, where the skin is thinner. I'm betting the area you want to tattoo would be more painful than, say, the topside of your wrist.

Hi Pinky Yes Tattoos hurt , having a needle thrust in and out of your skin for even 1 minute hurts , but look at like this how many people sit through it and say it doesn't hurt .I think its all about tolerating pain if you have a low pain threshold then yes you will feel the pain if you can bare pain a little better( as the good Rev Justin G . says you will be Able to Man up and take it).I know that from experience its not a terrible pain and 10 minutes after its over the result just makes the pain unnoticeable . yer the area you wont tattooed is less fleshy but a good artist can use just the right pressure and make it less stressful and less painful .
Pink its forever so be sure its what you want .

I got one done on my hip. It hurt when the needle hit the bone a lot more than the more fleshy areas I wont lie. The outlinning hurt the most after that it didn't hurt so much. The rest didn't hurt too bad. At first it felt like a really bad sting than the area went numb from the pain/pressure. I would just concentrate on breathing and thinking about how awesome your tattoo will look later on.

the more bone the more it will hurt. where there is less bone, of course the less it will hurt. I have 2 of them and have them on my upper arm and leg and niether one hurt. it also all depends on how much pain u can take. I honestly think a bee sting hurts worse than a tattoo. Good luck and why not, go for it. If it's what u want get it.

it verys from person to person. some people just have higher pain thresholds than others. but I would recomend for a first tattoo to be done on the fatest part of your body. I'm not calling you fat, but find the part that is farthest away from the bone, because for me that's what hurt worst was on the bone. when I got my first tattoo it was on the right side of my lower back, where my fat is, and it sort of tickeled then stung a little, like being scratched by a cat, but mostly wasn't painful

Thats not an easy question to answer. I know I sure asked it to everyone before I got mine done though. It all depends on the location and the persons tolerance for pain. From my experience it felt like scratching a sunburn. No biggee. But the only way to truly find out is to buck up and get it done. You will be so glad after you do!

It really depends where you get the tattoo. It is said to be most painful on the ankle, rib cage and lower back. A tattoo feels like scratching on sun burn. It becomes less painful after a while.

It all depends on the sensitivity of your sking and since you said your arm is bony that yes it will hurt like the devil. The needle that they use to design your tatoo with is not very big itself but they poke you with it over 1,000 times. That is no joke either

Getting tattooed on bone hurts most people. I have just above my private area tattooed and when he hit my hip bone, OMG!
Just try to relax and breathe. Its mostly an annoying feeling more than anything.
Good luck!

I found my tattoos to be more of an annoyance than pain really. It is very repetitive and bothersome, but not really painful. I have one on the back of my neck, one on my ankle and one on my booty. All mostly annoying really. I hope you'll REALLY think about what it is that you're PERMANENTLY putting on your body though. Think about jobs you want and what potential employers might think about you having a tattoo on your wrist that you won't be able to conceal.
