They both provide great exercise. But I will be honest with you, I HATE running. I do 45 minutes of walking 4 times a week (and 10 minutes of jogging within that 45 min). That way I do not jog much and I feel great!!!

Walking. Jogging causes too much strain on muscles and joints. You may exercise more than walking but the strain on everything doesn't balance out in the long run. Speaking of running as opposed to jogging, running burns calories and keeps your body fit and healthy.

It depends on what you mean.

For using more cardiovascular or muscular benefit, jogging or running is better. Walking is still good but after a cetain point you will reach a plateau and need to run instead of walk to gain more endurance.

For burning more fat, a low intensity work out such as walking or a slow jog is better. Jogging and running still burn fat, just keep it at a low/medium-low intensity level.

Also for losing weight, distance is key.

Walking is less wear and tear on your joints over time and might be easier to keep up long term.

All exercise needs to be a lifetime commitment. Don't make it too hard or you'll quit.

Walking & jogging burn roughly the same calories for the same distance.
