Why do we have better daughter-mother relationships than with our dad?

I never in my life have hung out with my dad anywhere and i have no clue why i talk to my mom better than my dad.

I have that going on in my life too, but I think it is because your mom you can relate to because she is a woman, not a man.

Thats just one relationship. I get along tonnes better with my dad then my mum, although I hang out more with my mum, but not often. I do prefer talking to my dad though, and I never speak to either of them about my problems really so theres no real competition

Because you both women and she probably understands everything your going through better than your Dad does. I have a good realtionship with my mum i can talk to her about anything but i dont really see my dad at all (but then thats for my own reasons)

Not true. I get along better and talk better with my dad than my mom. But there are also past issues between me and mom.

I get along better with my Dad than my Mom...I can talk to him about anything, whereas I can't with my Mom! I think it all depends on how well your personalities match up.

So many fathers have no idea how to relate to their children, especially daughers. They just never received good examples when they were kids. Could also be your dad's personality style - maybe he's just a quieter, more reserved person in general. It doesn't mean he doesn't love you guys, it just may mean he doesn't relate all that well to people.

men dont usually know how to show affection and so then we dont know wheather or not to talk to them about how our day went or not. my mom is that way. she is hard to read and doesnt really talk that much, so i dont talk to her, but my dad is always talking and showing me that he loves me so i get along better with him.
