As a concerned, even though retired Veternarian of 30 yrs, I have been watching and researching breeders in Missouri especially ones that have more than 7 breeds of dogs including, Dobermans. On a website that is very informative www.dogbarter.com This is for all dogs but has Dobermans listed. I have found someone who runs ads on 5 different websites, all of the same dogs with varying prices going up & up. This should be a RED FLAG warning to pet lovers! In the disclaimer on this site, it lists things to be aware of, ie, unusually high content of different breeds of animals for sale, and etc. I am testifing next week at the state capitol on Possible Puppy Mill owners, remember you don't have to abuse, or starve, to be a puupy mill owner. Please KNOW your breeder, if they are honest, they will ANSWER all your questions, and they will want to know about you also!

This breeder is brazen to say the least. We have the US Humane Society on our side. I have notarized statements from 6 former buyers of hers. One of them is my own former client. When you have so many different breeds of dogs with pups available ALL year long, something is terribly wrong! I have noticed how quick some are here on this site to "attack" others who question breeders! One girl was almost ripped to shreds UNTIL myself and a US Humane member came to her rescue! To answer some questions before they come to me, YES! I have animals, 1 Doberman, 1Pug, 1Bloodhound, and 3 cats! They live in our home, in fact all have been blood donors at my office when needed by my patients. Missouri is know for the Puppy Mill Owners, sad but true! Anyone may contact me, I WILL keep all informed, and I hope that breeder see this, and will make a response to us! Thank you all for your encourgement for next week!

I had some uncalled for "name calling" from a breeder in Missouri at my e mail address. She wouldn't defend herself, but resorted to name calling. Must be a little "HOT" for them.I took the time and expense to call Vet's in her area to ask for the age in which they deem acceptable for a doberman's "Ear Cropping" and all said, "NO earlier than 10wks!" Now before anyone goes off the deep end on cropping, let me state, It is a choice of the OWNER to crop or not!" It is NOT the sellers choice prior to 10wks of age! The graceful Doberman was meant to have cropped ears, and tail. If ears are not cropped, they are long and thick, like a Hound's ears, as many of you know some dogs with long ears are prone to inter-ear infections, I've had to clean ears from the Hound Group of dogs MORE than any other breed. If thier ears are not cleaned with regular care, it can be a leading cause of deafness. This is why the Doberman is in the "Working Class" of dogs, not the "Hounnd Class."

I can't believe all of the e mail messages I have gotten on this question.I had one from a woman in Ca.who was unjustly upset because I 'm going to testify next week. She sells 4 different types of dogs & didn't understand why I would testify against anyone who was trying to, "Just make a living." She added her website, and I checked it out. Seems like she has 147 FELONY counts pending against her and HER puppy mill operation. If we don't ALL come together on Puppy Mill Owners, they will become more brazen, like the ones in Missouri who we're looking at VERY HARD. We 're naming people, places, dates, on the Puppy Mills, not only in my state, but really hard in Missouri. This state has MORE Puppy Mills than any 5 states combined! We just conformation on an invite from a Missouri high court to produce what we have on people who operate Puppy Mills thereThey can run, but they can't hide . I hope they are looking over thier shoulders BECAUSE we are the ones looking back at them!!!!

We will be leaving Monday morning to the Capitol to speak about shutting down puppy mills. In early December we go to Missouri to do the same. We will be taking downloaded files from 4 so called breeders located in Missouri. Thank all of you for your support and your shared e mails to and from suppected puppy mill owners in my state, and in Missouri. The US Humane Society is very HOT on the Missouri people. Don't be surprised to find her & others web site is gone from the net or shutdown, but as I said, you can run, but you can't hide! If you want a pedigree dog, go to the AKC web site, look at breeder referals, and still check them out. If you want a Doberman, go to DPCA site, and ask for an honest breeder, either way you and your pet will be better off. I will keep everyone posted. Thank you all.

I really wish you luck sir! I was attacked in this forum by a breeder in Missouri, and you came to my rescue,(THANK YOU!) when some people actually took her side! I have rescued many dogs from places I would hate to see vermin live in. This breeder runs a beautiful website, but heaven help you if you ask questions about past litters! She was put in her place when I offered to share hers & my e-mails to the forum showing we turned her DOWN for an offer we made to buy from her. She then came on this site and complained about me, then tried to turn the tables by saying since her Mom was killed by a drunk driver, people should be mad about that fact! I am sorry her Mom was killed, but what did that have to do with the forum at the time? I am SO GLAD you are going to blow the whistle on all puppy mill owners especially the ones in Missouri! Good luck on your testifing! PLEASE keep all of us informed when you get back!

Testify loudly to close down all the Puppy Mills. Unfortunately they are all over this country. My 2 Shih-Tzu's were rescued from puppy mills and now have a warm, safe, loving home. Authorities closed down 1 mill in Ohio, where one of them came from, the other was in Florida, but it was not closed down, dogs were just rescued from that horrible place. Every state should have laws preventing their operation, but few if any do.
Not only should you know your breeder, but know the pet store. Many pet stores get their "cute" little puppies from puppy mills. There is a pet store in Florida that is being sued by the ASPCA and others for it's practices and dealings with unreptuable breeders (puppy mills), and selling sick puppies for huge amounts of money. Dare I name this "Wizard"?? Check out NBC6.net in south Florida for their story on it. The story is named Puppy Heartbreak.

I am glad to hear you are testifying on puppy mill owners. Something more should be done to stop this horrible practice. All the people on this site that are quick to snap at people with questions about dog breeding should put that energy into doing something about the actual mills instead of being quick to tell others not to breed when they dont know their intentions at all.. If we all did maybe we could make a change so there would be no more puppy mills. Good luck next week!!!

Good for you! I hope you are successful in shutting down yet another mill.

I won't get into my experience with a Missouri breeder in an open forum, but feel free to contact me.

Please, thoroughly check out any breeder you intend to get a pup from... check with the breeders local humane society to see if there are any charges against them. If they keep dancing around ANY questions you ask, find another breeder. If they breed more than 2 different breeds, find another breeder. If they claim they've been breeding for 16 years (or whatever) yet don't have pictures of a sire or dam of a litter or previous pups, FIND A REPUTABLE, ETHICAL & RESPONSIBLE BREEDER.

I recently purchased a full blooded pug puppy from a breeder in Buffalo, MO for $300. Cheap price, but the puppy is healthy. He DID have worms when we got him, due to ineffective de-worming on the breeders part. But he's all healthy now and in great condition. I'm so happy we got him!
