Get it imported from Germany. And dark. Milk chocolate from Germany is not all that good, but dark chocolate just melts in your mouth.

Being a professionally trained pastry chef, I've tried lots of chocolate. Different chocolates serve different purposes.
My favorite for baking and as well as eating out of hand is Callebut which is Belgian.
Best American...Guittard makes a great semi-sweet chocolate under the name of French Vanilla dark chocolate.
But like anything, personal preferences/taste varies.The best way to answer your question is to buy and try lots of chocolate yourself...Happy tasting.
