Israel is the Holy Land and Jerusalem is the Holy City. It is so because it is the promised land and the land where Christ was born and the land where the first temple to Almighty God was built. Jerusalem is the city to where Christ will some day soon return. It is the land God has chosen for Himself and promised to the Jews. It is the Holy Land because it's where Christianity started. No, the Bible doesn't say what type of tree was used to make the cross of Christ. There are many fig trees, acacia trees and palm trees there so it would be difficult to even hazard a guess. Since God is holy and since His Son is holy, the land of God is also called the Holy Land. The Bible doesn't specifically call it that, as far as I know, but it does command the Jews to be a holy nation, as well as Christians.

No, it doesn't mention the type of tree or wood that Jesus was crucified on.
It is mentioned in numerous passages of the Bible that Israel is the holy land. Just for starters, and in no particular order:
Ezekiel 37:15-28; Ezekiel 37:22; Genesis 12:1-3; Isaiah 8:8, 62:4; Hosea 9:3; Zechariah 2:12; Hebrews 11:9; Exodus 3:8, 17; 6:2-4; Ezekiel 20:6; Acts 7:17; Numbers 34:1-29; Psalm 46:4-5
It is holy because God has deemed it thus.

The bible doesn't call them the holy lands. WE do, because they were the birthplace of three major religions--Judaism, Islam, and Christianity. They are in the Middle East. Israel. The bible does not mention the type of tree the cross was made from. There is a legend that it was a dogwood tree, and that afterwards God decreed that the dogwood would never again grow large enough to be made into a cross. Nice story; no factual support, nor even any biblical support. It could have been an olive tree, or a cedar, which is common in that part of the world.

The Bible does not say what kind of wood He was crucified on.
As for the Holy lands - That is a human designation. They are considered holy by the Christian, Jewish and Muslim religions. Personally as a Christian I do not think of any one land as being more holy than another, but I do have an interest in the land of Israel as being where most of the history of the Bible took place.
During the Middle Ages, there was a lot of superstition promoted within christendom regarding the "Holy lands". It was a very popular term in the context of the crusades.

The Bible does not tell us what type of wood the cross Jesus was crucified on was made of. Roman history does not go into specifics as to how the crosses were made or what type of wood they were made of. As a result, we cannot know for sure what type of tree was used to make the cross.
All we know from Scripture is that Jesus carried His cross from the Praetorium to the site on Mount Calvary where He was crucified. The locations of these two sites are not known for certain, but wherever they were, the route between them was truly a sorrowful way.

I am not aware of any Biblical description of the type of tree. I am certain that it was a "torture stake" and not a cross as that was the custom then.
Most people associate the Holy Lands with the area around Israel. Check out your Bible, there is probably a map in there somewhere.

Israel is the Holy Land, Jerusalem. Jesus was most likely crucified on an olive tree. It would have been a tree because wood is scarce in Israel.
These lands are holy and for the "chosen people" because God gave this area to Abraham and his people (the land of milk and honey), and where he sent the Hebrews with Moses. Also, Israel is considered holy because of the Passion story of Christ occuring there. I got back 2 weeks ago from a trip to Israel, I highly suggest going and seeing for yourelf. Go with a group, and trust me, it's safe, it's not what you see on CNN. I felt safer in Israel than I did in the Airport in NYC.

We don't really know what kind of tree Jesus hung on: some think it was a dogwood. The Greek word for 'cross' is "stauros" and reportedly didn't apply to two pieces of wood joined together, as is usually pictured, but was just a single stake or pole

no it does not
best research i've read is it was pine
it's all guesswork tho
the lands are called holy because that is the land the messiah would come from
EDIT: it was more like a stake, not a cross. the bible says "cursed is any man who hangs on a TREE", of course, a prophecy of the Messiah

The oldest scrolls held by the Vatican only say that he was hung on a branchless tree, not the type. You would think it was an olive tree, but they do not grow straight and tall. Israel has many ancient forests.
