Mice have been getting into our Volvo XC90 for several months now. They get in at roughly the same time every evening (the car alarm is triggered) and seem to be gone again in the morning. I have caught 3 of these field mice in 'live traps' but am beginning to lose patience and require more effective measures. The car has been investigated by the Volvo garage but they say they have no idea how they are getting in. I have tried moth balls and sealing up the air vents on the inside of the car but nothing seems to deter them! I have to clean mouse droppings off my 3 year old's car seat every morning and they are chewing through the seat belt clasps etc. So far the engine seems to be untouched! I would love to know if anybody else has ever heard of this problem and if anyone has any idea how they are getting into the car.

Put a box of D-con Mouse Pruf under the front seat. Mice love the stuff, and they eat it and go away to die.

You can find it at most grocery and hardware stores!

has a picture of the display!

I had an office that was overrun with mice. I put out 4 boxes of D-con, and after just one day, I never saw another mouse!

If you use live traps, the mice will come right back as soon as you release then!

First of all it's not your car that is the problem, you have a mouse problem. You could get another car and they will get in as well. You need to bait the area around your car by a professional who understands the behaivior of the animal. Once you do that they will die. Keep this in mind, if you bait them and they die somewhere in your car and you do not find them for a few days you may have a heavy stink to deal with. Good luck and don't go selling your car becuase of a mouse.

Also one more thing. Mice can get into any hole the size of an American Dime or a British 5p coin. If the area around where the lines i.e. electrical or any penitrations in the fire wall exist of that size they will get in.

evidently your car is garaged the mice may have set up house and are now multiplying inside with out more having to get in. put d-con under the hood and in several places in the garage as well as inside the passenger compartment and rear storage areas [BUT AWAY FROM ALL CHILDREN] and monitor the bait spots daily until all signs are gone and keep climate system in recirculate mode when parked [you should inspect cabin air filter for vermin intrusion] and replace as necessary

You need to get the moth balls out of the car. It is not good for your kid to be breathing those fumes. It is also not good for you. You might try checking where the heater hoses go into the firewall . Raise the hood and look for two hoses that go into your dash. Hope this helps.

Try using moth balls. Check the interior of the car maybe the nest is in the car/ rear compartments.
