"I wrote you in my letter not to associate with immoral people; I did not at all mean with the immoral people of this world, or with the covetous and swindlers, or with idolaters, for then you would have to go out of the world. But actually, I wrote to you not to associate with any so-called brother if he is an immoral person, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler--not even to eat with such a one. For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Do you not judge those who are within the church? But those who are outside, God judges. REMOVE THE WICKED MAN FROM AMONG YOURSELVES." - 1 Corinthians 5:9-13
Clearly, this passage tells us that we are to judge "so-called brothers" within the church and that we are to remove wicked men from the church (which requires "judging" who is wicked).

I think I'm "calling it like I see it" and they call it judgment because of their denied guilt. As far as judging your brothers, this is so rarely done anymore, how far the "church" has fallen astonishes me every Sunday as I search for a church home.

Now you have to research. Paul was writing a letter to the Corinthians. In 4:21 he asked them shall I come to you with a rod (punishing) or with love and a spririt of understanding(talking-to allow the truth, repentence, and forgiveness). Then he speaks about the issues of a son who took his father's wife. This is immorality. Then there was boasting about such immoriality. Then he says I did not mean the people of the world but I mean a so- called brother(someone not believing in God and living as the devil.) He can't judge outsiders of the church but a church can judge but first they explain God's word to the wrongdoer and let that person make the choice to be forgiven and change their mindset and join the church or choose not to hear God's word and be an evil doer.First you -yourself have to remove the wicked man from YOU!!!!!!! If you have a church full of murders who have not repented and have not changed their ways and then a family(husband, wife& childern)come to join the church someone has to judge if that is safe.I hope I explained it well!!!!!

I would be skeptical about a letter written by someone who worships false idol.
Anyway, I don't think you're interpretation is correct. Paul said to not 'associate.' So by ignoring and disassociating the wicked person within the church, Paul is thinking that the wicked man will go away on his own. Paul did not state that the wicked man should be judged, or 'punished."

There is a difference between Judging someone and staying out of a burning barn....
I think that if you have a preacher who is fond of little boys, then obviously you need to remove either him or yourself from the situation to keep people safe.
That is FAR different from judging a person whom you have not known for something you have heard about them in conversation.
Gossip is the very tap root of most evil and it can be very hard to eliminate.
You know when you have been judgemental and manipulative. You feel the pang of guilt.

because of this, i have considered some Christians (highly youthful ones) so ridiculously committed to their mum and dad that they refuse to trust that that is moral to disagree with them, even even as the mum and dad are incorrect or flat out volatile or risky. i encounter this variety of blind obedience creepy. desire: valuable straw guy. Morals may nicely be absolute or not (and that i have a tendency to imagine they look a touch extra subtle than any variety of particular crucial view--the single many Christians take--might want to have them be), yet that doesn't mean *anybody* thinks morals ought to count number on a existence-style. you're conflating lifestyle with evolution, yet lifestyle is a spread of community deal and humanity as an total isn't. hence, we may be able to assert that particular cultural practices are immoral without resorting to claiming that a god gave us our morality. C'mon! Your view of "morals *ought to* come from God" has been lifeless in view that a minimum of Nietzsche, and your declare that in the different case something is permissable is passe.

For the most part, it is because we Christians do not judge people the way we are supposed to. We are supposd to have descernment, to not allow the sinfulness of others to corrupt us. Unfortunately, we then mess it up by being "holier than thou" and sticking our noses in the air at people we consider sinful without remembering that WE are sinful, too. Descernment should be done with love, desiring for all people to be saved.

You are so right! How soon people are to forget that the bible is Jesus words in its entirety not just Paul's words. People should read all of it and not some. The word of God also says to judge them by their fruit and Jesus did the perfect example with the fig tree. If people spew hate and continue in sin then hate lies within and their lives leads to destruction. If people spread love and live righteous lives and strive for perfection they have eternal life.
The wicked are already judged that's why I don't condemn them to Hell. Unbelievers already know this within themselves that's why they mock and antagonize. We must continue to uplift those who are weak in their faith by showing them the word of God.
Shalom

The final sentence in the passage you put up was:"BUT those who are outside, god judges. Right there in front of your face is your answer, but being a "christian" must mean you can interpret things the way you want. If Christianity was half as "good" as it claims to be, the world might actually benefit from it. If you ask me, if people would realize they are responsible for their own actions and didn't routinely blame god for their misfortunes, mishaps, and general screw ups we as a species could probably advance from the stagnant plateau we like to refer to as civilization

There's a difference between judging (which implies a lack of information when making a decision) and discernment, which involves God more. It's not our job to Judge, it's God's, but we can discern what is the right thing to do in situations with God's guidance.

Yes we can judge those in the church- and speak to them and try to show them their error --that is what it is saying. But we are not to judge the unbeliever- that is why we say we are not to judge, because its a question from an unbeliever. God judges them.
Also this verse is good:
Romans 12:19
Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the Lord.
