Without my knowledge or approval my daughters stepmother took her to the shop and got her fine/wavy hair hotcombed or flat ironed, my daughter is only five years old. I need to have a letter stating the damage this can cause to a child's hair. I would get it from my beautician but that would seem bias to the court, If anyone knows of where I can get an accredited letter please let me know.

i'ts not that serious if you do it just one time! But if she constantly does this it will be very damaging! Just try to relax and let the anger go away!

I must say, doing ANYTHING to a childs physical appearance without permission from the parent is a BIG no no. That type of direct heat can definately damage a childs virgin hair, even once. What if the hotcomb was too hot, or the beauticain was inexperienced? Pleaes discuss this with the stepmom and dad. Let them know why you feel so strongly and ask for it not to be done again. I'd say get statement from several beauticians so it doesnt look biased.. good luck.

P.S. Why might you prefer to straighten it besides? people pay a great form of money to get their hair wavy and great.

I don't believe there has been much "study" done on the topic that there is documented evidence posted on line.

I think the fact the your ex's new wife did something you didn't approve of to your daughter; your little you. Take a deep breath. I can imagine....no one wants another to take their place, and your daughter will never see her as such.

If at all possible, let StepMommy know that while you appreciate a "Fun Girl's Day Out" and her trying to bond with your little one, but as a woman, you would appreciate anything such as that being cleared with you first. I think that's fair.

Good Luck!

I'd worry less about hair damage, and more about the stepmother who is sexualizing a 5-year-old. MUCH more.
