I met another mom at the park and we exchanged numbers to arrange a playdate. Her son and my daughter (both 2) have met a couple of times, but they don't seem to click. He's very hyper and she's laid back and she seems frustrated and irritated by him. I don't want to hurt the mom's feelings, but I don't think it's working out. How can I gently tell her that it's not working out? What should I do if we see them at the park?

i would continue to go to the park, they can play there under your supervision,if its to hard on your daughter just explain to the other mom how you feel and how your daughters feeling there really is no gentle way just respectfully and politely.she will probably be taken a back a bit but, has to notice the same things you do. maybe then she can correct the problem. happy holidays

I would act normal at the park - you are there..they are there. Casually bring it up that you have noticed that they don't really click and see what she says.

just stop setting play dates. Make yourself busey those days or sonething. Although it would be good for your kid to play with a large variety of different kids. even if you don't think they click. It is good for them to learn how to cope with differnt people and situations. good luck with your decision

if you think it's notworking out, then only let then lay at the park. it won't be awkward if you just let the other mom know that you don't think her son is good for your daughter.

call her kid a nasty booger-eating spaz and see if she still wants your child to play with hers....or you could tell you just took your child to the doctor again and " we just cant seem to get rid of this ringworm"
