Basically, it is a yellow-green color; or green-yellow.
It also tends to be bright in fashion or paint, because the point of chartreuse is to be noticed.
The only naturally occurring pale chartreuse I can think of is chlorine gas, and you're gonna want to stay away from that.

A strong green-yellow almost flourescent with a bit of purple mixed in to darken it up every so slightly.
