Twin = a room with two single beds in
Single = a room with one single bed in
Double = a room with one double bed in

For most instances, the Twin/Single/Double refers to the size of bed available.
"Twin" bedrooms will have two single beds
"Singles" will have one single bed ... occasionally, it may mean one double bed. Check with the hotel/motel to be sure.
"Doubles" have one double bed ... occasionally, it may mean two double beds. Check with the hotel/motel to be sure.
In North America, there's also
"QUEENS" which have at least one (sometimes two) queen-size beds.
"KINGS" which have a single king-size bed ... and often, sofa that will transform into a double bed.
