Definitely go, you can't tell if the roots are fractured or not. Your dentist will take x-ray's and evaluate his teeth to see if any treatment is need. How old is he by the way?

You might want to to be on the safe side. Does he have baby or permanent teeth? In any case...it's never harmful to ask a professional. It might be as mild as you having to give him a child's aspirin or oragel, but who knows? If you've tried this, and he's still complaining....go ahead and take him.

If he is really young like under 3 , just keep an eye on it. It could be maybe the bristles irritated his gum line a bit, which he will live LOL.
If he keeps complaining get it checked. If he is older and tells you his tooth hurts.. listen to him!

go to the dentist he could have damaged the tooth in the gum, or damaged the root, pain may get worse or the tooth/gum area can swell

Yes. He may have damaged the root (the part of the tooth that is in his gums.) I would make an appointment ASAP.

He may have damaged a nerve, and the damages could show up much later; like a dead or dying tooth. I'd take him in.
