Tinnitus really annoys me. If it doesn't go away after a few weeks see a doctor. Either a hot drink such as horlicks or warm milk may help, sleeping pills make you over tired if you are tired by you sleeping too much. If you have a kind chemist for a friend or a horse tamer ask for some Vallium - Horse tranquilisers- the dosage for a horse will knock you out for about two weeks.
You may be sleeping too much so you are over tired, or not getting a regular sleep pattern.

To go to sleep with Tinnitus, that's a tough one. Warm beer works, hot milk with some honey inside and a warm bath before bed time.
80mg of Gingko a day for 1 or 2 weeks can help with Tinnitus, as it increases the bloodflow in your ear.
Hope you feel better soon and good night :o)

I think about a meeting(not real or work related), get all the action points from the various departments represented there, mentally note actions for the next meeting, I'm always off to sleep before the end. Sounds a daft Idea but works for me and I have tinnitus too.

Well, I don't know what tinnitus is, but I'll try to answer anyway.
Exercise a lot in the middle of the day, and you should be tired by the time you want to sleep.

Excersize is a good answer, actually anything throughout the day that keeps you active and uses a lot of energy. Also, I saw this stuff that I'm actually gooing to try, it's called sleep md and it's sold at any generic drugstore. It's claim is that it helps you get to sleep quicker and helps you stay asleep longer without any addictive side effects. I don't suggest rx sleeping pills if you can help it just because they're expensive and no matter what people say, you can and usually will get hooked. A woman I know can't sleep at all without her ambien, even if she is completely exhausted.

a good walk or a swim in the evening time. If you prefer something less energetic you can try the cocoa or warm milk fad. not eating late at night and getting into a good evening routine. Don't get into any deep conversations if you can help it. Prepare a nice warm bed for yourself in advance. Warm relaxing bath. Put a few drops of avender on your pillow to help you drift off. I don't think there's anything specific to help the tinnitus. Good luck.

Depending on your physical health, my advice is to stay as active as possible during the day, stretching and exercising whenever you have some free time, drink at least 8 8 ounce glasses of water during the day, eat 3 meals per day, with the biggest one being lunch, then supper slightly smaller, and breakfest being the smallest meal.
Make sure you eat enough carbs, which provide your body with most of the energy you will need to stay active during the day, and lay off of the fast food, junk food, processed food and microwaved food, as all these food types will only give you empty calories and not real energy like you need.
For herbs and other natural sleep remedies, try Melatonin, which is the most effective natural sleep aid, any one of several herbal teas, especially Chamomile, and put Lavender oil on your pillow at night.
If none of these remedies works for you, then go ask your doctor for some OTC sleeping pills like Ambien or Lunesta; the latter seems to be the most effective, but remember to be faithful to taking it every night and give yourself at least 8 hours to sleep after taking it.

Don't drink caffenated drinks after 6 pm. It's best if you don't drink them at all. After work or later in the afternoon go on a walk or ride a bike. I love the way I feel after I exercise. You feel so relaxed and anxiety free. Some people like to drink warm milk before bed, it relaxes them. Take a warm bath and try to think of soothing things. Oh, if you don't like milk, try some decaffenated hot tea before bed. Good luck, I know this has been hard on you. I once hardly slept for an entire month. I'll be praying for you.

Being physically exhausted,
Reading technical book (might only work when you are under pressure to acually take in the information
Alcohol (Perhaps not a good suggestion, but it helps me)
Valerin (7 drops of a herbal thing)
Sleep with music/ relaxation tape on
Warm bath
Eating your main meal just before bed
Drop all forms of caffine
Don't watch listen to things that make you aggitated
Don't break your routine
Genuine 5 days no sleep when I was a teenage, feel for you.
Try everything, half those things don't work for me, but I know they do for other people
