Oh sure there is!
Go to the butcher and buy whatever is on sale. Go home cook it with no salt no spices what so ever, add whatever else your dog likes. Cool it, give it to pooch. Who by the way will love it! Peeps have been doing this for years.....dog food (or bought dog food)has not always been around...
By the way store bought dog food is not the healthiest for your dog! Some people....read what is on the back of dog food...some of that stuff is old old old! Might have a little itty bitty amount of meat, not much....

Commercial dog foods are convenient and easy to feed and why not if it is quality food providing what your dog needs for it's own body? A balanced "people food" meal, if that is what your dog ate on a regular basis would not be meeting the needs of your dog. There are alternative diets like the raw diet which you can find at www.rawdogranch.com
Some great commercial brands that aren't loaded with fillers and don't have body parts that aren't good for an animal and don't have toxic preservatives are: Nature's Recipe, Royal Canin, PetSmart Authority brand of dog food, Dick Van Patten's dog food, Flint River Ranch dog food to name some of many that are good.
My dogs love a bit of doggie junk food which does no harm on occasion. They go nuts over Purina's "Frosty Paws" ice-cream formulated for dogs. This is available in the Ice-Cream section of some major stores like Super Target, Kroger's, Randall's. You might call ahead to the store in your area to see if they have it in stock and if they don't you can request it. It comes in a box with four ice-cream cups.
Here's a link from Flint River about what is in SOME commercial dog foods. But remember there are some really good ones out there. http://www.flintriverranch.org/Ingredients.html

Keep him on dog food. I tryed doing the same with my puppies a while back, and it didn't work out at all. Trust me. I really suggest that you feed your dog with Royal Canin dog food brand. It is the best dog food out there. A lot of people seem to talk bad about it, but they don't have the experience with it. It is also the most expensive dog food brand you will find, but it is worth every penny. You will start noticing the difference in your dog in a week of feeding him with Royal Canin; my pit pupps got really big, energetic, and strong with that food. Plus they love it. If you're not happy with dog foods, then try out Royal....I'm really sure you will be happy with the results.....Also, Royal Canin has more protein than any other premium dog food brand (I made my research). It has 28-32% protein, compared to the other ones (eukanuba, solid gold, etc) that only have between 20-25% the most.

Bland dog food? Dog food is extremely good for you dog and is what he needs. Sure giving him the rice and potatoes for a treat is a good idea because he will enjoy it but human food can actually be very bad for an animal's liver.

Seriously I suggest that your dog eats dog food. You could always buy some of that "dog gravy" which should spice up his bland food.

Try Nutro Max brand food. It is all natural. They do not tes on animals. The ingriedients are human grade. My dog goes ape over it.

You can give your dogs most anything that you'd eat. Just NO SPICES/SALT!! Another big no-no is pork and poultry skins. My dog's Vet said that pasta, veggies, chicken, beef, hamburger (preferably boiled), cheese (in small amounts), bread -- it's all good.

Both spices and salt and the fattiness and saltiness of pork products can irritate the dog's tummy or pancreas and cause all sorts of things, namely pancreatitis.

My dog eats people food all of the time and has had some fatty foods and has also had pork products, which lead to him getting pancreatits. It is VERY dangerous, and is never totally cured -- once they get it they are susceptible to getting it again and again.

So, in summation, feel free to feed your pup all the veggies he can eat, chicken is good (no skins), and beef is also very good (if you trim off the fat), and small amounts of bread, pasta and cheese. All of those are fine for dog consumption.

Just make sure you give a balanced diet!

And one last note, my dog has been eating people food for 5 years and he is at his ideal weight. ;)

Dog food is the best. It meets the nutritional needs for dogs. People food meets people's needs, not dogs.

Try some of the Iams savory sauce. You put a little on the dog food and they think it's a big treat. Dogs don't usually mind their food though, they don't care if it's bland. It tastes good to them!

I was told that I can mix certain things in the dog food but never give it strictly people food.

Eggs But a small amount
Cottage cheese not too much can cause diarrea!
Vegies any

Try not to give your dog too scraps cause it can cause health problems! no salt!

You can feed your dog the BARF(bones and raw food) diet. It's popular amongst dog owners because dogs eat raw meat and vegatables in the wild .

Here is a link to a FAQ about BARF diet

Dogs don't mind the blandness of their food and really, dog food is the only thing your dog should be eating as a staple.

Just buy him multi-flavored treats.

Mine get spoiled with bacon grease over their food once in a while, or tid bits of fat from ribs, steaks, etc.

Treat your dog to different flavors through "cookies" as we call them in your house. Just be aware of what is harmful to your dog and only give "cookies" in moderation.

People food is making us fatter and fatter, if you feed it to your dog, guess what will happen.

Buy a quality dog food (not something at the grocery store or pet superstore) but a QUALITY dog food high in protien low in grain and sugars.

My suggestion - Artemis. My dogs love it. I also put a squirt of salmon oil on the food to help keep their coats shiny and their skin conditioned.
