Catholics believe that Jesus Christ was man, God incarnate, the Son of God. They believe there is only one God - a triune God. They believe that by grace through faith you are saved by Christ Jesus' death and resurrection. They have other beliefs, but this is the main one.
Mormons believe that Jesus was the Son of God, but attained Godhood after He lived a perfect life and that anyone can attain the same stature as God. They believe there is only one God on this Earth, but that there are many others elsewhere. They believe Joseph Smith was enabled by 2 or 3 people - it differs in the various dates of the manuscripts, to read God's message with special glasses and establish a new religion.
An interesting note to Joseph Smith, he was quoted as saying "the fastest way to make a lot of money is to invent a new religion" - just prior to his 'miraculous' conversion. HMMM.

With a question like that, you are going to get a lot of biased answers. The fact is, both Churches have an argument that they are the true church. Catholics believe in the sucession of Peter, and Mormons believe in the restoration of the true church (not a reformation).
Mormons believe that when Christ and the apostles were killed, the authority of the priesthood was lost and there were no more prophets on the Earth. A restoration of prophets and the priesthood were necessary, so God restored them through Joseph Smith in the early 1800's.
There are so many differences in doctrine that they're too much to cover here. To get a good answer, I recommend talking to people from both religions. I know people that are Catholics and others that are Mormons that enjoy talking about their religions. Get the view from both sides because, quite frankly, there are Catholics that are misinformed about Mormons and there are Mormons that are misinformed about Catholics.

Catholics believe that Peter was the first Pope, and from that time the church has received revelation through the Pope as to what the doctrine of the church should be.
The Mormon church believes that the Apostles did not pass on the priesthood authority (authority from God to lead his church) and after all the Apostles were killed, the church was also taken from the earth. Mormons believe that God re-established his priesthood authority on earth beginning with Joseph Smith, and continuing to this day.
Essentially, Catholics believe that Christ's church never left the earth and Mormons believe it did leave the earth for a time, but was restored during the 19th century. All other differences stem from this one difference.

Both believe in the Bible, but Mormons also have the Book of Mormon. Catholics believe in the Trinity, that God, Jesus, and the Holy Ghost are all one person, Mormon's believe they are 3 seperate entities, with Jesus being the son of God.

Sucession of authority, nature of the godhead, infant baptism. There are differences but from experience these two religions get along pretty well. A lot of evangelical christians (baptists, born-agains) hate both of them and catholics and mormons tend to stay out of their way.

The Catholic Church was founded by God the Son, Jesus, in 33 A.D.
The Mormon church was founded by a man named Joseph Smith.
From their website: "The Church was organized in Fayette, New York, on 6 April 1830, under the leadership of Joseph Smith."

The Catholic Religion is the True religion direct from Jesus and the Apostles. The LDS is not but, they say they are and they will use any means to establish this.
