Alcohol for the adults, and nothing with much sugar for the kids.
For a one year old party, the kids are too young to care much; the party's really more for the parents & adults. Our daughter's 2nd birthday we went to a bit more effort; spitted goat, salad etc. Kids liked it just as much as the adults. You don't need things stuffed with red food dye number 2 to keep kids happy.
Good luck and have fun, whatever you do.

Whatever you want. You definately need a cake. The pictures will be priceless. If you just want to serve that with tea, coffee and juice that is reasonable. However if you would like to put on a spread, veggies and dip, fruit, cheese and crackers, perhaps finger sandwiches. Don't worry too much about the food, the day should be about the baby. We had mainly adults at my sons 1st B day party so we fired up the BBQ and served burgers, hotdogs, sausages and some salads.

I would serve simple finger foods as much as possible. I would definitely try to avoid things like peanut butter if there are going to be tiny tots around that could get into things. Finger sandwiches are always a good idea, chicken or turkey salad for adults and cheese or balogna for the kids. You can use cookie cutters to cut them into neat shapes. Veggie, cheese, and fruit trays are always a hit. Big bowls of chips and pretzels are also great for hungry toddlers. Also, make sure that whatever you serve, you would be willing to eat leftovers of since there will undoubtably be some leftovers. Try to stick to a white or yellow cake if little kids will be eating it. Their parents will thank you for it. You may also want to have a small supply of disposable bibs on hand.

For my daughter's 1st I had pre-cooked ribs (easy to heat) for the adults, hotdogs for the older kids and I made pastina for the under 3 croud. Pastina is super tiny pasta stars. You can find them either in the pasta isle or in the ethnic isle of the grocery store (latin foods)
Instead of a big cake we got a cupcake cake. No cutting and everyone got a flower. The kids had fun, not to sure about the adults but it wasn't for them anyway.
