I say baby blue and gold is beautiful. But black is also nice. See color below.

Pick warm tones. Since gold is a warm color, you need something that will math the unertones and blend well. The the paint supply store has cards that you can hold up to each other so you can have an idea of what gose well. Gold can go with alot of diffrent variations of the same color, you just have to be mindful of the undertones.

Gold curtains are pretty and if you put a sheer behind it it will accent the gold and you can correspond your carpet with whatever color sheer you put with your curtains. It shouldnt be anything to bold. But that is my opinion. It all depends on what color your living room is and what color your furniture is. If your furniture is brown or beige then red would make it pop. but if you are not going for something that extreme. Then black or a navy blue would look good to give you a warm feeling. or pastels to soften the living room decor.

The trick is that gold is reflective, so instead of being a solid color it will have a range of white and other reflected-color areas in it. If you don't want to get too fancy with the reflections, use everything from white to yellow to orange to warm brown in the shadows, to show the variation based on lighting

I would use whatever color you already have in your other living room decorations. With gold you could really get away with any color other than another metalic. Use colors from your couch or maybe the art work you have.

Depends on what is the color of the rest of your furniture. If it's a classy, elegant room decor, then I'd go for cream or white rug.
If it's a bit comtemperorary, the red(deep one, not bright) or dark brown would go well too.
I'd personally choose the lighter shade to tone down the jazz.

Maroon, or Forrest Green go well with Gold... But it depends on the shade of Gold
