I use bitcomet all the time - my favourite download sites are:
http://www.isohunt.com
http://www.mininova.com
Search for what you want. Make sure the download you choose has lots of seeders - it will be faster. When it has finished downloading, check in the bitcomet programme files and find the downloads folder. Sit back and watch!
It's very simple, and bitcomet was a good choice - enjoy!
Torrents are the files that you are downloading - in the simplest terms. Don't worry about it so much, it isn't that complicated - just download what you want and then play it.

Install it and follow the instructions/prompts.
Do a search on pirate bay, demonoid, mininova or wherever, to find the torrent you want, and click download.
Then, once youve downloaded the tracker from pirate bay etc,, click itand it will start downloading the actual torrent through bitcomet.
After you've downloaded, please seed the torrent (leave bitcomet running) for a little while to gain kudo's (getting a better share ratio =faster torrents,) -remember, its SHAREware.
...and beware of copyright infringement.!!
