I can't get rid of these short, bold veritcal lines in the word document (using Word 2003) that don't even show up on screen or print preview. They only show up on the printed document. Arrrggh. Someone please help! Thank you.

Turn on your Reviewing toolbar (View menu>Toolbars>Reviewing). Change Final Showing Markup to Final.

You can also make sure you do not have a bar tab set. Click in the row that the line seems to appear, and make sure that nothing is in the ruler at that place at the top of your page. If so, click on it and drag and drop it off of the ruler.

Ok, I'm also using Word 2003. Go to "Format", choose "Borders and shading", then setting what kind of border you want to be appear or disappear.

Check your printer to be sure it is clean.
