I have a 2001 Pontiac Montana. Over the last few months my traction control has been steadily going off (for nothing!) The weather is beautiful, nothing on the road and zzzzz off it goes! What the heck is wrong with my traction control? I turn it off everytime i take off with the van but it still goes off! Does anyone have any hints or suggestions as to what it may be? Also, is it possible to just disengage the traction control and drive my van without the traction control? If you need more info, please ask away...I appreciate any help I can get on this one! ahhhhh! ;-)

It could be as simple as a bad ground, or it could be as bad as a ruined trany. If you are a do it yourselfer then if you do not already have one go to your local parts store and get a book for your van. If you already have one then start at the cheapest side and work your way through the problem, I think it is a wiring problem however I could be wrong, I hope this helps you :]

Remember traction control works by wheel speed sensors telling the ABS control module that one wheel is turning faster than the other,or in other words spinning or in case of panic stop, a wheel locking up. some systems cut the throttle back electronically while other systems use the abs to do it .A scan tool is a must to properly diagnosis the failing component
