My daughter has been dating for 1 month. He hangs all over her if they are in arms reach. I have asked her to not do this in public, he says there is nothing wrong with it. I say it looks trashy? Who is right? They are 17 years old.

You are the parent. You are always right, whether they like it or not.

I would say holding hands or maybe putting his arm around her shoulder when they're sitting is fine. A peck on the cheek is ok, but if they're making out in public, its too much. Besides, that should be a special moment between the two of them, not something to show to the world. It also depends on who they're around. If they're around friends, then pda's (public displays of affection) are ok. If they're, let's say, at the mall, then it's not ok if they hang all over each other. Also, keep in mind that your daughter is still under your roof. I would have your husband confront the young man and tell him to back off. Good luck!

You are your daughters Mother, not her friend, and not this kids Mum. Tell him to take his hands off your daughter in your home or he can leave and I mean NOW! The day my Mum would let someone backsass her, was the day she'd get the switch herself. So tell this smart alec that its your house, your rules and if he doesn't like it, he can take his paws up the street to Hooker & Hoe. You should have a talk with your daughter about what she is allowing him to do and that you disapprove of this behaviour in your home and ask her if she can kindly set the tone for her bf not to be all paws when in your presence. I think that is what a respectful good daughter should consider her parents wishes when under their roof. Good luck!

It all depends on what they are doing if they are hugging and holding hands or peck kissing then I do not see anything wrong with that. If it looks like they should get a room then there is something wrong. Other than that I do not see what the big deal is.

Holding hands, if he gives you a kiss on the cheek, no making out and not being all over each other.

Young adults sometimes act impulsive, they must learn there is a time and a place for everything.

Set the example, and enforce your decisions.

Best of luck.

Tell that little dipsh*t that if he wants to keep hanging out with your duaghter, he needs to respect Mommy's wishes. If you don't want to see him hanging all over her, who the hell is he to do it?
