Shooting cans and bottles or targets is usually fine. But if you are in a city or suburb I would check with ordinances. A bb from the newer pump up guns can be lethal at close range if a person or animal is hit in an eye. The bb's are moving as fast as a .22 rifle bullet, just not as much weight. Definitely, know what is beyond your target, (dirt hill is best), and never shoot in the direction of houses or buildings. A bb gun makes only a small "pop" noise from compressed air release.

These are "guns" so treat them as such!! Use common sense and possibly take a gun safety course.

Totally legal to buy and operate a BB gun. They make virtually no sound. Your neighbors won't even know you are doing it unless they see you shooting at targets. My five year old has a bb gun. We set up some hay bales as a backgorund to stop the bbs since they sit on a little ledge. If you shoot your cans it is probably best if you put them on the ground and shoot them, that way the bb goes in the ground. Have fun and stay safe!

That would depend on where you live. Some places have no problems w/bb's as they are not considered (real) guns, however, there are some places where they are considered guns and are illegal to shoot in your backyard. (unless, of course, you live outside city limits, then it's ok). Check w/your local police department to be sure.

Simple
Just call your local authorities and ask what the law is as far as shooting BB guns in your area are. Then you will be on the safe side.

As long as you don't brandish your gun in public, like a real gun, it is perfectly legal. If a bb gun shoots less than 500 feet per second, it is perfectly legal. It might be a little loud, but you are in your right to shoot it in your backyard.

it depends on where you live. If you live around alot of people you probably shouldn't shoot it off because a bb can still hurt someone very badly. Ever heard "you'll shoot your eye out with that thing"? I would just check with my local police department. Most places frown on it. I called my local police department and they say it is not illegal. Personally, i would do it, but i would just watch out. Good luck

most cities and towns have laws against discharging firearms in the city limits - I have seen that stretched to include BB's and pellets because they are projectiles - check with the local police

perfectly legal. it depends on the fps (feet per second) on the gun that u want to buy. the higher fps the louder it is. i bought 1 that goes 900 fps and it almost sounds like a 22 rifle
