My hair is really frizzy and curly and i want to get it chemically straightened. I want to know things like price aftercare, if it damages your hair and anything else you know about it.

I've straightened my hair 3 times.
The procedure kinda goes like this:
1. They apply a relaxing Solution
2. The solution is rinsed out of the hair after leaving it on for a certain period of time
3. The hair is partially blow dried.
4. The hair is ironed in small sections with a thermal straight iron.
5. Another solution is applied
6. Hair is rinsed and conditioned and blow dried.

Afterwards you can't wash your hair or wet your hair (remember your umbrella!) or tie your hair or use any hair clips etc for about 2-3 days.

Hair stays straight for about 6-9 months, depending on your own hair texture etc.

I don't live in the US...but I think it costs about $200-500 USD.

And yes it's very damaging to your hair and if you don't take good care of it you'll get HEAPS of split ends. So make sure you use a good conditioner everytime you wash your hair and use those leave in conditioners 1-2 times a week.

But the results are pretty good and your hair becomes real smooth and silky and really easy to style. No need to fuss about straightening creams or ironing your hair every morning. Just comb out your hair after you wash it and blow dry it (in the direction your hair grows...ie. not from the bottom up)

Hope it helps :)

I've had mine done multiple times and by many brands and I suggest you do the following for the best results:

1) Get it cut BEFORE getting it straightened unless you want to spend three hours in a salon chair.

2) Getting it done professionally is pricy, but yeilds MUCH better results. Less frizz, longer lasting, and evenly applied. It also helps keep your hair from drying because they use all sorts of extra products.

3) If you're going to pay a load of money to get your hair done, make sure it comes out great. I suggest using ColdStraight (a form of Japenese Hair Straightening that does not involve heat and thus does not damage your hair) At first the costs can range anywhere from a hundred - three hundred dollars (length and texture considered), but touch ups are only necessary every 6-8 months and are about 30 bucks a pop.

4) DO NOT DO ANYTHING WITH YOUR HAIR THREE DAYS AFTER THE CHEMICALS. I once tucked it behind my ears two days after getting it straightened and there was a hige ear-shaped crimp in it for months. Just let in hang; don't wash it, don't pull it back.

5) Use Cholesterol Treatments. For some reason these things work WONDERS after my hair's been straightened; they tame any remaining frizz and add back the shine that I lost through the chemicals. They even make it reeeeally soft!

6) Invest in a Chi straightener. Yes, the chemicals will HELP your hair...but that doesn't mean that you'll never need a straightener again. Success varies each time - some times I never need my Chi, other times it comes out badly and I need it daily. (still, it's always a major improvement over my normal hair) Chis are by far the best brand; although their pricetags are a bit staggering, they're well worth the investment.

Hope you enjoy your brand-new hair! <33

If your hair is frizzy and not kinky, I would not get it chemically straightened if I were you. If you will purchase anti-frizzing products like ION or JOHN FREIDA you can handle the friz without damaging your hair. Check out Sally's beauty supply in your area or on line. There are so many products that will leave your hair straight and soft, also you might invest in a good flat iron.

haha I actual have an identical project ! for straightening your hair, first attempt to get a chum or kinfolk member to straighten it with a outfits iron. *confirm your hair is dry* then touch it up with a straightener and positioned some form of straightening and frizz unfastened cream with the aid of it and brush it with the aid of. gently spray some hair spray in it to maintain the frizzy-ness down. for curling your hair, you are able to scrunch it with mousse jointly as its moist to get comfortable bouncy curls. additionally, use hair spray. good success !

I have not had it done, but I have a friend who has and she loves it. She just washes it and off she goes, she says there is no maintenance at all.
