My kid is 4 and he pretty much has it...One thing is that he always says his stomach hurts....So, I know when he needs to do the # 2 and I send him to the bathroom. I wait but he always says he's finished after a while but then goes in his underroos...

My son is 3 years old and potty trained (except at night time). The ONLY thing that worked for us was a "Potty Chart". I bought a piece of posterboard and wrote "Evan's Potty Chart" on the top and every time he went in the potty he got a sticker. He really liked to pick out the stickers at Walmart and that encouraged him to go on the potty...so he could get one of his new stickers! I know potty training is very frustrating! Good luck!

How long do you have him sit there?? It is a good idea to have him sit there until he does go.... I know that seems wrong but I have a 4 year old stepson that I helped potty train and it worked. But hey you could always try and if it doesn't work, try pull-ups. They usually don't like pull-ups after having big kid undies on so they usually will stop, but try and have him sit there until he does go. No matter if he says he is finished, all kids say it when they are getting potty trained because of their favorite show is on, or they think they are going to miss something, who knows, but try it and see what happens.

If he says his stomach hurts, he's associating pain with using the bathroom. He holds it as long as he can and then has an accident. A lot of kids also get separation anxiety over letting go of a part of them (yes, even poop). Punishing him for this will just shame him and make accidents more likely.

I would be sure he's not constipated (check with your doctor for dietary changes or treatment). Also, wait with him until you're sure he's gone. If he'll let you sit with him, read a book to take his mind off it.

It takes some kiddos longer than others.

Instead of "sending him to the bathroom", take him. Let him look at some books while on the potty...it can get boring fast for a 4 yr old. You may even get some colorful, new books just for the occasion. Stay in the bathroom with him, or just outside and encourage him to take his time.

Patience is key. If he feels your frustrated, he'll be pressured and it will make matters worse.

Best of luck...I know it is hard to be patient when it keeps happening.

you are able to purchase a potty seat he can use on the fellow potty, or you are able to make him use the newborn. both way you'll likely ought to stay interior the rest room with him till he is going for the first few months of potty practise. do not assume him to be able to flow in there and guard it himself. grab a e book and plant your self till he is going. do no longer make it stressful. you are able to grant a advantages of a few style if he makes use of both potty (like 2 m&m's). be affected human being even if he's no longer and don't be disturbed. practise takes time.

I got my son regular ( n I mean almost the same time everyday) by bribing with raisins my grandmother told me that trick she used with all of her kids. It worked like a charm getting his BM regular on schedule so we had less yucky undies to wash out. Just watch him close in the house to find his pattern once he starts eating the raisins. grapes r the same way so if he is hesitant due to the way raisins look. Good luck.

This is the only time I ever did this with my kids, but ........ I bribed them with a piece of candy every time they went on the potty. lol Needless to say, they both trained very well and I never had a problem with them.

You could check the toilet when he says that he is done, and if he has not gone then tell him to stay there until he is really done.

If he tells you he needs to go and then says he went but later goes in his underwear, you need to punish him. Not just for making a mess in his pants, but for lying as well.
